STAR SIGNING MORRIS HEADING BACK

NEW Leicester signing Nick Morris is plotting his trip back to the UK from Australia ahead of the season.

Morris is set to fly across in early May which is well timed with the government roadmap allowing fans back into sports venues from May 17.

The former Coventry man was lined up for the Watling JCB Lions last year but flew home as soon as the pandemic started to grip the UK.

Now he’s ready to get back over and meet up with his Leicester team mates ahead of the new campaign.

He said: “May 3 is when I’m heading back to the UK and I’ll have to quarantine for a few days when I land,” he said.

"I can't wait to get back over there and get straight into the racing, it's been a long time coming.

“I feel good and I’m injury free which is awesome. I’ve had a year out which has added a new spark into my racing and I'm racing with some of my best mates.

"I think Leicester can win something this season. We have good teams and we will be pushing each other all the way.

“All the boys are excited about racing and I'm sure both my teams will be there at the end when it matters.”

Morris won the latest Darcy Ward Championship meeting in Brisbane at the weekend with a stunning display to edge out Edinburgh’s Josh Pickering in the final.

Leicester boss Stewart Dickson said: “Nick can be a major player for us this season and we’re delighted to have him at Leicester.

“It’s great to see him doing well back home and I’m sure he can carry that form forward when he’s back here in the UK next month.”
